What Is Kelvin Temperature?
Kelvin is the base unit used to measure thermodynamic temperature. The colour temperature of LED’s is measured in ‘Kelvins’. The LED’s Kelvin output will determine what colour shade of white light that your LED bulbs will output. This can range from warmer tones of white, too much cooler shades of white which will tend to be much whiter in their tone.
The colour temperature of the LED will be measured in the degrees of Kelvin and will range from 1,000K to 10,000K. Ideally, for commercial or home use you would want to use LED lights that are somewhere on the scale of 2,000K - 6500K.
The Kelvin temperature measurement should be displayed on the packaging of your LED light strips. 2,000K LED lights will produce a warmer, more orange tone of white and 6,500K will produce a more cooler tone of bright white light.
Why Are They Important
Knowing the correct meaning behind the Lumens and Kelvin measurements can be crucial when picking out the correct LED strip lights. For example, if your project required a cooler tone of LED light then you probably want to stay away from LEDs with a lower Kelvin rating.
Likewise, if you want LED lights with a lower power usage, then you should probably get something in the range of 600 - 850 lumens. You can find a range of LED products to suit all your project needs right here at LEDSpace.
Warm LED Strip Lights - view all
Warm Kelvin temperatures give any room a relaxing feel, ideal in locations that you want to wind down in, from lounges to bedrooms. We sell warm LED strip lighting in the range of 2700K - 3000K.
Natural LED Strip Lights - view all
The 'goldilocks' of Kelvin temperatures for every day settings where you don't require too bright or too cosy of a feeling. Our natural LED strip lights range come in 4000K - 4200K temperatures.
Cool LED Strip Lights - view all
Popular in rooms where you want a 'day light' Kelvin temperature range. Our 5800K - 6800K cool white LED strip lights are popular with those completing a kitchen install/revamp.
CCT Adjustable White LED Strip Lights - view all
Slightly more expensive than standard warm, natural or cool lighting strips, but a great buy if you want to install in a room where the mood can be changed, i.e., a kitchen/diner where you'd prefer a cool white when preparing food, to then dial it down to a warm white when it's time to eat and unwind on an evening.
